Directions to the Department

By Air: The nearest major airport to IIT Kharagpur is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in Kolkata, which is approximately 150 kilometers away. From the airport, you can take a taxi or a pre-paid cab to reach IIT Kharagpur. The journey by road will take around 3-4 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

By Train: Kharagpur Junction or Hijli railway station are the nearest railway stations to IIT Kharagpur. It is well-connected to major cities in India. Once you arrive at Kharagpur Junction/Hijli station, you can take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to reach IIT Kharagpur campus. The campus is approximately 8-10 kilometers away from the railway station, and 2 kilometers from Hijli station. The journey from Kharagpur Junction should take around 20 minutes.

By Road: If you're traveling by road, you can follow these general directions:
From Kolkata: Take NH6 (National Highway 6) and follow the signs towards Kharagpur. IIT Kharagpur is located around 120-130 kilometers southwest of Kolkata.
From other parts of West Bengal: Depending on your starting location, you may need to take various state highways or national highways that connect to Kharagpur.

Using GPS: You can use GPS navigation apps like Google Maps or Apple Maps to navigate to IIT Kharagpur. Simply enter "IIT Kharagpur" as your destination, and the app will provide you with the best route based on your current location.
Once you arrive at IIT Kharagpur, you can ask the security or staff for directions to the JCG-PCR Science Block located near CRF within the campus.
