We organise Asia's Largest Tech Fest, Spring Fest, Departmental events, National Sports and much more

With over 40 events spanning science, technology and management, Kshitij — the annual techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur — invites students from around the globe to test their ingenuity. The largest fest of its kind in Asia, it offers participants a wide spectrum of challenges, with significant prize money. Quality events have drawn patronage from ASME, IMechE, ACM, IEEE and UNESCO. Comprehensive workshops by industry pioneers give inimitable insight into the practical realm, while guest lectures from renowned scientists inspire the next generation.

Currently in its 55th edition, Spring Fest has been celebrating the true spirit of youth for over five decades. A perfect blend of fun and frolic, of excitement and ecstasy, Spring Fest is a celebration with responsibility — a splendid platform for the diverse talents of today's youth. It includes cultural competitions and headline stage shows by performers such as Sunidhi Chauhan, Farhan Akhtar, Salim-Sulaiman, K.K., Pritam, Parikrama and Indian Ocean. The festival attracts participation from more than 150 colleges across India.

The various societies conduct events throughout the year to promote, practice and share their culture — encouraging students to develop their skills. Examples include Robosoccer (Technology Robotix Society), dramatic plays, music shows, and the Global Entrepreneurship Summit organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell in January. In October, the Space Technology Students' Society hosts the National Students' Space Challenge — the first space science and engineering competition series of national scale for students in India.

Each department at IIT Kharagpur runs its own technical festival. Highlights include Bitwise (CSE — online programming contest), Samudramanthan (Ocean Engineering — March), Esperanza (Electronics & ECE), Composit (Department of Chemistry), Great Step (Mining Engineering), Prithvi (Geology), and Petrofiesta organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Composit is our very own departmental fest bringing together chemistry enthusiasts from across the country.

IIT Kharagpur is committed to providing quality healthcare to its faculty, employees and students using modern, cost-effective techniques. B C Roy Technology Hospital, located centrally on campus, provides primary healthcare comprising curative, preventive and health promotion services. The facility has 32 beds including a 2-bed ICU, cabins and isolation ward. Through its OPD, Indoor Wards and Emergency Unit, it provides 24×7 uninterrupted healthcare services to the campus community.
