Research Statement

Our research aims on the design and synthesis of several functional materials via crystal engineering approach by the judicious choice of hydrogen bonding, various other intermolecular interactions and coordination bonds. By the utilization of coordination and covalent bonds many framework structures (MOFs & COFs) were designed with high porosity, selective adsorptivity, dye encapsulation, catalysis  and post synthetic modifications. The hydrogen bonding assisted cocrystals, organic salts and metal assisted organogels were shown to exhibit their multifunctional properties, including SCSC [2+2] dimerization/polymerization reactions, luminescence and proton conductivity. Furthermore, synthesis of SOFs with intriguing photocatalytic properties for water splitting also one of the part of our research efforts.
